Maailmasta toiseen is a Spanish, Portuguese, and Finnish literature festival organized by the association Sivuvalo Platform Ry with the support of several Finnish and international institutions. Its purpose is to offer the Finnish public a view of contemporary poetry, fiction, and essay from the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America, and to promote the cultural exchange of these two realms with Finland’s literary and publishing circuit. This year the essay panel will take place in June, within the CEISAL conference at the University of Helsinki. The other panels are scheduled for August 19-20th at the University of Helsinki, Rosebud Bookstore, and Oodi Central Library.
For the third consecutive year, Taiteen edistämiskeskus (TAIKE) has decided to support this initiative. Additionally, Sivuvalo has partnered with the faculties of humanities and political science at the University of Helsinki, represented by professors Elina Liikanen, Eeva Sippola, and Teivo Teivainen. The Embassies of Mexico, Peru, Spain, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil in Finland have made crucial contributions to this endeavor. NOXLit—our sister association in the Nordic countries—, along with Petzétera, and Nordic Culture Fund, have also supported this project.
